Out of darkness I was born
Tears fall into a mountain stream
There was no sound
but the sound of a lost child
Now petals open in the morning sun

Stuart stumbled unexpectedly into voice and music as a way of self exploration in 1998, when he was told that he was a bard – or at least that he carried some sort of natural talent for that path. Until then he had spent no time with music, writing or voice work.
He started to write poetry and discovered that his words held meaning for others. He also discovered the power in his spoken voice. Though at first he was scared to sing, he has found his Naked Voice training with Chloë Goodchild hugely liberating.
The balance between structure and freedom holds a particular fascination for Stuart - the set forms of chanting sacred mantras and Shintaido body movements, and the freedom of naked voice.
Stuart now offers workshops introducing others to his understanding of chanting, body movement and silent meditation. He believes that these techniques can help us open to a place of greater stillness in our mind and to draw nearer to the song of our heart.
In 2008 Stuart recorded seven of his poems on a CD called Into The Still Point, set to music composed and performed by William Goodchild and Nick Pullin, together with sung vocals by Chloe Goodchild. You can here some of the CD here.
